The works on canvas and the watercolours of Julien Gorgeart seem to testify of the contemporary art world, the one in which the artist and the viewer evolve. It depicts the banality of everyday life occupied by parties in lounge rooms, night rides between friends, urban landscapes and intimate still-lives. Despite the hyperrealist appearances, Julien Gorgeart is a painter of the sham. With a paintbrush, he translates today’s real world in order to open narrative and cinematographic perspectives. With photographic-like faithfulness, his works represent everyday life scenes. Yet, the reality is only illusion, simulation and reactivation. Coming from his personal experience, or the one of his close relations or of strangers, the images endure a real work of editing.
